Menu
We’ve set out sights on preparing and serving flavorsome food in a timely manner. Our standard menu (available between 11am & 2pm) has starters, salads, soups (in winter) and pizzas. In addition, we have our “Meal of the Week” which, as the name suggests, varies from week to week. This meal showcases the creativity and expertise of our kitchen staff and is sure to satisfy. Our aim is to provide a meal that matches any in the region for flavour and freshness so please call us on (06) 328 5050 on Thursday mornings to discover what the meal is for the week and to make a booking. Our meals from range from $12.50 – $25 and are well complimented by one of our freshly made smoothies.
The full-sized pizza oven operates year round and in summer we offer a seasonal salad in addition to our regular salad menu. We cook a range of classic and gourmet pizzas using our own slow-leavened dough for dine-in or takeaway. We also have a gluten free pizza base made in-house, available for just $3 extra. Our 8 slice pizzas range from $15 – $25.
Regardless of the time of day, we always aim to hit the mark with our barista-made coffee, quality loose leaf teas and made-from-scratch cakes and desserts. Your morning or afternoon tea at Hansen’s should satisfy even the most discerning palate – our reputation depends on it.
Store
The store is stocked with quality gift items, most of which are hand-made by us in Kimbolton. There is a range of soy candles, soap and shampoo bars, lotion bars and lip balms. Other hand-crafted gift items include cane baskets, woven wall hangings, sewn items and gift cards. We have also been able to locally source some lovely character timbers that have been reclaimed into craft items such as vases and candle holders.
Two recent additions are the Heritage Made homeware product range including planter boxes and historic barn board clocks and the Heritage Mill range of baking mixes.
Facilities
The large interior space has afforded the possibility of several different seating zones for privacy or larger groups. We have one “cosy nook” with couches, one bar seating area, two large tables that can each seat 10 that can be combined to seat groups up to 18, as well as several smaller tables that suit 2-6 people each. During the cooler months we have three tables adjacent to our open fire. During the warmer months we have five outdoor tables under our wide street frontage verandah.
Hansen’s is child friendly, with a clean and sturdy baby seat, a box full of quality wooden toys and staff that understand both the joys and the trials that come with being parents.
Our facilities are fresh and clean and we have good wheelchair access throughout the cafe. The maximum indoor capacity is about 50 people with additional seating for 25 outdoors.
The huge open fire and additional log burner effectively push back the chills and provide a warm and cozy feeling during the winter months. It’s the perfect place to meet for a coffee and a chat, or to relax and read a good book. We also offer free WiFi access to customers.
